This place is one of the few options for accommodation on Lake muhaze and it makes a nice, relaxing place to stay in a nice, relaxing setting.
You have a choice between cabins (although they’re more like proper, modern buildings) and a room in a larger building that faces out to the lake. The cabins also have great views but they book up over the weekend and we weren’t able to get one. They’ve got tables nearby that give you a place to sit which the single rooms don’t have. I guess you could hang out on a lawn chair on the porch or sit on the grass but other than that, there’s nowhere really to sit if you end up in a single room.
The rooms are decent and have ensuite bathrooms with hot water. They even give you little bottles or shampoo, soap and toothpaste which is a nice touch. There are mosquito nets which are certainly needed and, while spartan, the rooms are comfortable enough.
There’s a restaurant but it didn’t have most of what we asked for. We ended up with meals of chicken (of the rubbery Rwandan variety) and fish with rice, beans and chips piled high. It was a huge meal, tasty and great value for money. The only downside was that they ushered us into a room with hundreds of mosquitoes waiting to feast on us. We chose to wait outside for the hour and a half it took to prepare and ended up eating at the table in the reception area rather than allow for out blood to be sucked.
Seeds of Peace has some religious affiliations and doesn’t serve alcohol but if you want a tipple then Jambo Beach is only about 10 minutes walk down the road. It’s also a better place to swim and they serve food (although at an equally slow pace) in a more inviting, less mosquito-y setting.
